Special Education Compliance Specialist 10 Month + 10 Days John F Kennedy Middle
Applicant must hold a postgraduate professional license and be eligible to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must have three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher. Must have thorough knowledge of special education principles, practices and procedures. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of instructional best practices. Must possess thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of effective teaching of students with disabilities. Serves as the Child Study Chair for school with student enrollment of 1,000 or more. Monitors the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs.(IEPs) Partcipates in IEP team meetings. Responds to complaints from students, parents, or staff and facilitates dispute resolution at the building level. Assists in monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations. Demonstrates lessons in classroom situations for observation by teachers. Develops and conducts in-service training for general education and special education teachers regarding instructional strategies, best practices, and specific instructional topics. Qualify for or currently hold a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in School Psychology. Must have completed sixty (60) graduate semester hours which culminated in a Master's Degree in School Psychology. Must have the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, administrators, and teachers. Administers psychological assessments to students who may qualify for special services. Interprets psycho diagnostic test results and completes written reports of those results.
