5	What is Precipitation? Precipitation occurs when: Water that has evaporated has condensed and changed from a gas (air) into a liquid (rain) or a solid (snow or sleet) Precipitation = Evaporation + Condensation

7	Weather eXtremes A drought occurs when there is not enough precipitation. A drought means the land has not had water for a very long time. A flood occurs when too much precipitation falls in a very short time.
